Milwaukee's Original Oktoberfest

Glendale, Wisconsin

Milwaukee's Original Oktoberfest is held each fall at the Bavarian Bierhaus in Old Heidelberg Park in Glendale, Wisconsin, and is billed as the Milwaukee area's longest-running Oktoberfest celebration. Old Heidelberg Park has been a home of German culture in greater Milwaukee for generations, and the festival keeps the tradition intact: authentic German bier poured in the park, German food, live music, and family-friendly fun across multiple weekends from late September into early October.

This is a proper park Oktoberfest rather than a parking-lot event - long tables under the trees, brass and polka on stage, stein-friendly pours from the Bierhaus and traditional Bavarian plates to go with them. Milwaukee's deep German brewing heritage gives the event a hometown feel that most American Oktoberfests borrow rather than own.

The Bavarian Bierhaus itself operates year-round as a German-style brewery and beer hall, so even outside festival weekends the venue is worth a visit for anyone chasing Wisconsin's German beer tradition.
