Lansdale Beer Fest
Lansdale, Pennsylvania
Lansdale Beer Fest - officially the Lansdale Beer Tasting Festival - is Lansdale, Pennsylvania's annual craft beer festival, a Saturday afternoon of unlimited sampling in Memorial Park on East Main Street, produced by the volunteer nonprofit Discover Lansdale. The 2026 edition, billed as the fifteenth, was held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m., with VIP ticket holders admitted at noon, and the organizers note that the festival has been voted Montgomery County's Best Summer Event. Their tagline says the rest: we put the ALE in Lansdale.
The format has stayed close to the one the festival started with. General admission ($60 in 2026) buys a five-ounce souvenir sampling glass and unlimited samples across the afternoon, with food vendors, free bottled water, games, vendors, and live music from a band and a DJ. The VIP ticket ($100 in 2026) adds admission an hour early at noon, a VIP Lounge Tent with special drink options and catered food, and its own restrooms. Designated drivers pay $20 for a DD Lounge Tent with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Tickets bought at the gate cost $10 more than advance sales, the event is strictly 21 and over, and pets, outside food, and outside drinks are not allowed. Proceeds go to Discover Lansdale's community work - in recent years, entirely to the restoration of the historic Lansdale Freight House.
The 2026 pour list ran to more than thirty producers. Lansdale's own Well Crafted Beer Co. poured alongside Conshohocken Brewing, Imprint Beer Co., Yergey Brewing, Broad Street Brewing, Brothers Kershner, Vault Brewing, Evil Genius, Prime Station Brewing, Tom Ryan Brewing, Manic Minds Brewing, Brass Collar Brewing, von C Brewing, Gamer Brewing, Space Cadet, Country Club Brewing, Trillium, Fat Head's, Zero Gravity, WeldWerks, Rusty Rail, Lancaster Brewing, and Beer Tree Brew Co. Cider came from Downeast, Schilling, and Oak Tree Orchard, mead from Philadelphia Mead Co., Barbarian Meadery, and Revolution Bees, and canned cocktails and hard iced tea rounded out the list. The mix of area breweries with bigger names from farther afield is a long-standing feature - local coverage of the 2015 edition ran under the headline "Regional, national beers in the spotlight."
The festival began in July 2010 as a volunteer fundraiser, and it grew fast. The second edition, on June 25, 2011, went before borough council for formal approval, had sold several hundred tickets before the vote, signed up more than fifty craft beer vendors, and ran from the Madison Avenue parking lot at West Third Street and Richardson Avenue, with proceeds going to the Lansdale Public Library and the hunger-relief nonprofit Manna on Main Street. By the third year the VIP tier - 500 tickets, an extra hour, an eight-ounce commemorative glass, and all-you-can-eat food pairings with a pig roast - was selling out. The fourth annual festival in June 2013 drew a crowd of nearly 4,000 on 3,800 ticket sales and close to 200 volunteers, with a little over 125 brewers pouring, among them Round Guys Brewing Co. of Lansdale and Free Will Brewing Co. of Perkasie. Attendance had climbed from 800 in the first year to 2,200 in the second and 3,200 in the third. The Lansdale Area Fundraising Society ran those early editions, with ticket revenue going to the North Penn Rotary Club and vendor, T-shirt, and raffle money to local charities. The fifth annual festival, on June 28, 2014, was still in the open field behind the Madison parking lot.
For most of its life the festival was a late-June event, and it was still held in June in 2023. It has since moved to September and to Memorial Park: the 2025 edition was held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the park, and in February 2026 borough council's public safety committee voted the September 12 date ahead in the same Memorial Park location, which was described at the meeting as a delight after the festival had tried venues around town. Memorial Park itself dates to the 1920s, when the borough combined a memorial to its World War I veterans with the ballfield it needed to join the Montgomery County baseball league, a project that took roughly fifteen years to complete. As in 2011, the 2026 date went through borough council first.
The cause the festival now funds is a piece of Lansdale's railroad history. The Lansdale Freight House at 111 South Broad Street, at the corner of Vine and Broad, is the Reading Company's 1902 stone freight station, built as the import and export hub for the borough's industries and used to handle heavy goods until it fell into disrepair and closed in the 1970s. Discover Lansdale bought the building, holds a 99-year lease on the land, and is turning it into a visitor welcome center and event venue. A fundraising campaign launched at the end of 2024 to install electric, water, and heat, rebuild the floor, and restore the doors and windows, the borough paved the surrounding lot in 2023, and after nearly a decade of volunteer work the building opened for a public open house on April 18, 2026, with Phase I complete and Phases II and III planned to run from 2026 into mid-2027. Every dollar of the 2025 festival went to that project.
Getting there without a car is easy, which matters at an unlimited-sampling festival. Lansdale Station on SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail line sits just off Main Street, right in the middle of the action, SEPTA buses 96 and 132 stop across the street, and drivers can use SEPTA's 680-space six-story garage - $4 for the garage and $2 for the surface lots since SEPTA reinstated fees in 2024 - or the municipal lots and metered parking along Main, Broad, and Madison streets. Routes 309, 63, 463, and 202 and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike all feed the borough. Discover Lansdale, a registered 501(c)(3), also runs the borough's First Fridays, Founders Day with its fireworks, Restaurant Week, and the Holiday Mardi Gras Parade, so the beer festival is one stop on a full local calendar.
