Morgan Territory Brewing
Brothers Michael and Dave LaCross acquired the established Schooner’s Grille and Brewery in Antioch, CA, in May 2014, immediately retaining Brewmaster Craig Cauwels, whose twenty-year career includes numerous accolades from the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Following the acquisition, the brewery won California Brewery of the Year at the California State Fair in 2014. Recognizing the limited distribution reach of the previous operation, the owners rebranded the company as Morgan Territory Brewing and relocated production to a large warehouse facility in Tracy, CA. This facility was engineered for significant scalability, including foundation reinforcement to support 120-barrel fermenters, installation of a large boiler and a Cool Fit glycol system, and a reverse osmosis water treatment system, allowing for potential growth up to 25,000 barrels annually. Morgan Territory Brewing focuses on producing diverse, high-quality craft beers, drawing its name from a historic ranch located on the eastern side of Mount Diablo. In June 2023, the company expanded its retail presence by opening a satellite tasting room in Pleasant Hill, CA, necessitating further investments in logistics, including a large freight truck and upgrades to the canning line to manage increased production demands.
