Most of what people know about crime comes from headlines, not data, leading to a disconnect between declining crime rates and increasing public fear. This presentation examines common myths about crime, the effectiveness of punitive policies, and how media distorts perceptions of safety. It then shifts to community-level strategies that can make neighborhoods safer.
The event runs at the brewery's taproom: 1725 McGee St, Kansas City, Missouri. RSVPs and walk-ups vary by event — check directly with the brewery for capacity, ticketing, or food/drink purchase requirements.
