This barrel-aged stout, clocking in at 8.5% ABV, spent a full year maturing in French oak barrels previously holding ruby Port. The extended aging process imparts significant complexity to the stout's dark malt base. Notes of ripe dark stone fruit, such as figs and plums, mingle with subtle undertones of sweet berries. The oak influence provides a gentle tannic structure, balancing the inherent sweetness of the stout and the residual character of the fortified wine. It presents a rich, warming profile suitable for slow sipping.
